Immaculate Conception Academy provides art instruction for student growth and development. The creation of art allows for original thinking and self-expression. The act of creation broadens a student’s educational experience and reinforces the pursuit of excellence. In the art room, students are taught to develop confidence in their artistic abilities and own unique creative vision. Art lessons focus on the Elements and Principles of design and are linked to interdisciplinary, art history and multicultural experiences when appropriate. All ages are exposed to a variety of media and techniques throughout the academic year, including but not limited to tempera paint, collage, printmaking, and watercolor. Lessons comply with the Diocese of Allentown’s Art Guidelines and align with state and national standards. Ideas and techniques build on each other from year to year, and students are given the opportunity to learn more advanced concepts as they move from lower to middle school. There are projects that become mile markers in the student’s creative formation that they look forward to. In the Art Room we reflect the attributes of our school of : Love, Learning, and Leadership by giving the students opportunities to share the creative gifts God gave them.
