Welcome to Second Grade - Mrs. Hassler

Second grade is a monumental year of growth – both academically and spiritually! Students continue to develop literacy skills, become critical thinkers, and are able to showcase and expand their individual talents. Our classroom is a bright and happy space that fosters a joy for learning, whether students are exploring the planets, working on the strokes and curves of cursive, or are lost in a book from our classroom library. Throughout the school-year, second graders prepare to receive two holy sacraments. Students learn about God’s forgiveness as they prepare for and receive First Penance. In May, students join God’s table as they receive the Eucharist and participate in First Holy Communion. I am honored to help guide them as they continue to grow closer to God!

You do not have any official summer work, but I want you to keep reading! There are so many ways to read. You can read alone, or with a parent or sibling. Maybe you have books at home, or can borrow them from your local library once it reopens. There are also fun, educational websites you can check out (with the help of a parent) like National Geographic Kids (kidsnationalgeographic.com).
