About our Principal
Mrs. Lisa Forkin was one of our longtime kindergarten teachers and the Principal of Immaculate Conception Academy. For eight years, she taught and modeled our ICA motto of Love, Learning, and Leadership. Over her time here, Mrs. Forkin has served as our Religious and Mission Coordinator. She is a tireless volunteer to both the school and our Parish. Lisa has been a part of the Middle States accreditation process and Iowa Testing.
Before joining ICA, Lisa worked and did her student teaching at inner-city Catholic and Public elementary grade schools in Philadelphia. Mrs. Forkin received a BA in Elementary Education from Holy Family University. She also has her certification in Elementary Education, and Mrs. Forkin holds a Master Catechist Certificate in Religion. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Education. Lisa also finds the time to be a professional tutor.
Before teaching, Lisa worked in the private sector where she held management positions in banking and insurance companies. She brings a strong background in human resources, personnel allocation and extensive, diverse project management to her new role as Principal.
All four of her children attended ICA. Lisa herself is a product of the Catholic School system – having graduated from St. Matthew’s Grade School, St. Hubert’s High School and Holy Family University.
ICA’S Way
Love is no better exhibited than in our religious studies as we learn about God and His
unconditional love for us, as we attend Mass and receive the sacraments. It is consistently shown by the members of our ICA family, the faculty, staff, and students as we demonstrate care, compassion, and respect for each other and the outside community through outreach activities by contributing to Toys for Tots, manning the local Soup Kitchen, raising funds for the fight against cancer, to name a few.
Learning – A strong learning foundation is built for our students through a curriculum that encompasses academic excellence in a faith-filled environment that prepares us to be life-long learners. Chromebooks are used in grades 3-8 and iPads in the lower grades. Each class is involved and submits a Science Fair project. We are involved in Mathletes, Declamation,
Geography Bees, Spelling Bees, Talent Show, STEM, Art and Drama Clubs to name a few. We also have a strong Home and School Organization and CYO Sports Program.
Leadership – A strong and active Student Council exists with representation from Kindergarten through Grade 8 which empowers us to provide service to our school, parish, community, and world. Our prayer partner program enables us to form relationships with younger students to help them prepare for new and exciting learning adventures.
