ICA’s Kindness Club has been working hard this year to spread (you guessed it) kindness. The club has members from kindergarten through eighth grade. Students work on projects and activities that focus on thinking about the needs of others. They work in groups to complete fun tasks that they can share with the school, Parish, and community.
At the beginning of the year, they made posters describing the things that they felt were a way to show kindness to others. Those posters were hung around the school for all of our students to enjoy. The club wrote letters to servicemen and women thanking them for their selflessness and service. The students made festive placemats to include in our school-wide Thanksgiving dinner donation baskets for our community. As a surprise for our Parish, the club members made a little candy cane and prayer treat for everyone at Mass then personally handed them out. And now, they are working on baking and decorating 200 cookies for a fundraiser for families in need.
Service and compassion are part of our core values at ICA. The Kindness Club is a fun way to encourage our children to take responsibility for their actions and to help them make kind, thoughtful choices.
