Fall is in the air, and the school year is in full swing! Our Knights have been busy with new ICA classes, clubs, worship services, CYO sports, and competitions. There is something extra special for everyone.
New this year, the students are experiencing long-distance learning. Our Spanish course is being taught online from Bolivia. Teacher Senora Ruth and the children interact live during their class time. During class, ICA Teachers assist with anything that the students or Senora Ruth need.
At recess, after school, in the evenings, and on the weekends, our students have many club options. Most are low to no cost for our children to participate. One of our most popular is our lunchtime Study Club. It is a free club that students sign up for on a day to day basis. Our Resource teacher runs the voluntary sessions and is available to assist students with any subject. Test prep, homework, and projects are all worked on in our Study Club. Some students need help, some need time, and some require the perfect room to work quietly in, Study Club meets all of those needs.
Our Catholic identity is a considerable part of an ICA education. In addition to our student Masses, we also have Prayer and Worship services. They are lead by our Parish Youth Group leader Mr. Kasperowicz. The contemporary worship service incorporates music and movement to engage and energize our students in the celebration of their faith.
CYO sports are a fun way for our children to be active and learn good sportsmanship. The Cross Country team has had a fantastic season and hosted a very successful home meet. Currently, our CYO basketball teams are registering players from the Academy and our Parish. Our Knights also competed in our Kitchen Kapers event. Students prepared their favorite recipe and entered it into one of eleven categories. Our Grand Champion Susannah N. won for her apple fritters. All of our category winners move on to the County Kitchen Kapers competition that will also be held at ICA this year on November 9th.
Thank you to all of our Teachers, Aides, Staff, Volunteers, Parents, and Students for making this an exciting, educational, and enjoyable year!
